| Microsoft will release a new addon for the Xbox 360, a so-called Chatpad, together with a new headset. With this Chatpad you can type text with your Xbox 360 controller, so people who use messenger on Xbox Live can quite comfortable type their messages with this chatpad. |

The chatpad is designed to slide into the base of the Xbox 360 gamepad. The addon adds some weight to the controller, but you can still use it comfortable. The keys provide a "clicky" feedback, so you can feel what you type. The chatpad does have a QWERTY layout, so it's not suitable for gamers who are used to other layouts like AZERTY (French gamers for example)
The chatpad has a headset pass-thru jack at the base of the addon, but Microsoft decided to use an other type of 2.5mm audio jack, because it can't accept the triple-pronged connector which is used on the old headset. That's the reason why Microsoft bundled a new headset with the chatpad.
Probably the chatpad will be available in Europe in September & will be priced around 30 Euros.
