Blu-ray disc production increased |

| Singulus Technologies (manufactures machines for optical disc production) reported that the Blu-ray disc production is increased, according to their sales figures. |
Stefan A. Baustert, CEO of the SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG, comments: “This means that the orders for Blu-ray in the first year of the dual layer technology already by far exceeded the volume at the start of the DVD eleven years ago with 17 machines. It is also very promising that recently the first Dual Layer Blu-ray disc machine was accepted by one of our key customers in the US.”
It was reported that already orders for 21 Blu-ray dual layer machines were received in the 1st quarter 2008 & that additional orders followed in the 2nd quarter.
These figures do show increased Blu-ray production, but it's not a solid proof of worldwide increased sales yet, because most consumers are still not considering switching to the Blu-ray format.
