| The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) has granted licenses to 11 China-based manufacturers. |

This license allows these manufacturers to undertake R&D, production & marketing of players or drives & BD discs, according to Digitimes.
The 11 makers include Malata, TCL, China Hualu Panasonic AVC Networks (a joint venture between Panasonic & the China-based Hualu Group) & Desay.
The licensees will focus on the design of BD movie players using technologies transferred from Japan-based partners. Volume production is expected to begin in 2009. So expect a wave of cheap(er) Blu-ray player on the market.
