| Fox released their 1st 2 Blu-ray discs with the BD+ DRM, which is a huge mistake because most people can't play these DRM protected discs (yet) |

The problem is that all the Blu-ray players aren't ready for BD+ yet & without a firmware update you can't play the movies at all.
This isn't only a problem of the 1st gen hardware, but the Samsung BD-P1000 was able to play the new discs just fine after a very long delay. The newer BD-P1200 didn't fair as well, but instead you see a scary red screen instructing you to install a firmware update that doesn't exist, according to several people at the AVSForum. Fox doesn't mention at all which discs are protected, so just avoid these two new Fox titles for now; The Day After Tomorrow & Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Like many times before with other media (CD's & MP3's) DRM is causing huge problems for the end-user & the industry is just ignoring the consumers by releasing their media with malfunctioning DRM technology. | |
