The new Marantz flagship Blu-ray player is the the BD8002. Marantz describes this player as "an ultimate-quality, reference standard High Definition source component".
|

The BD8002 offers a 1080p image, 24 frames per second, and decoding of Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD & DTS-HD Master Audio. It's equipped with HDMI 1.3a, with a 12-bit/297MHz video chipset & a 10-bit Silicon Optix Realta processor with the HQV system, PocketLint reports.
As well as Blu-ray & DVD discs, the BD8002 can handle VCDs, SVCDs, MP3s, WMA & DivX video files, display JPEG images & has an SD card slot.
It's quite remarkable this player only supports Profile 1.1 & does not offer the full Blu-ray experience that Profile 2.0, or BD-Live brings.
The Marantz BD8002 is now available in the UK for £1799 (1985 Euros).
