Pioneer introduces their new 8x Blu-ray burner, the BDR-S03J.

The BDR-S03J uses the Serial ATA Revision 2.6 interface (SATA) & is able to write to single- & dual-layer BD-R media at 8x. It will burn regular DVDs at 16-speed & burns CD-Rs at 32x & CD-RWs at 24x (4MB buffer)
It's compatible with the following Blu-ray standards:
- BD-R: Version 1.1, 1.2 &1.3
It will be available in Japan in January 2009 for ¥38,000 (310 Euros, or $399). It's not clear when it will be launched worldwide.
