Older devices can also be upgraded with a firmware upgrade via the internet or USB memorystick, so they will also support YouTube streaming & MKV containers.
"Adding MKV file support and YouTube to our range of Blu-ray players is the latest step from Samsung Electronics in providing an unparalleled home-cinema experience for our customers", according to a Samsung spokesman.
The MKV (Matroska) container file format is intended to serve as a universal format for storing common multimedia content, like movies or TV shows.
The YouTube feature will also be available on all Samsung Blu-ray Home Cinema Systems from the 4th quarter of this year.
