Hitachi announced the world’s 1st Blu-ray Disc Camcorders DZ-BD7H & DZ-BD70. These Camcorders can record 1 hour of 1920×1080 Full High-Definition video onto a 8 cm. single side, single layer Blu-ray disc.

The new Hitachi DZ-BD7H is a Hybrid Cam with a BD drive and a 30 GB built-in hard disc drive, which can record about 4 hours of 1920×1080 full HD video, or up to 8 hours of 1440×1080 HD video. It's also possible to dump the contents of the hard disc drive to a 8 cm. Blu-ray disc, with the built-in Blu-ray drive. The other Camcorder, the DZ-BD70 has no hard disc drive & is a BD single drive camcorder which can record about 1 hour of 1920×1080 full HD video, or up to 2 hours of 1440×1080 HD video on a 8cm BD. Both camcorders have a newly developed full HD lens, with a 5.3 mega pixel progressive CMOS image sensor. This CMOS images sensor has an effective 2.07 megapixels specification for video & 4.32 megapixels for still photo. The processing of the Full HD video/pictures is handled by Hitachi's “Picture Master Full HD" HD processor. Both camcorders will start selling in Japan on August the 30th, this year. The European & US market will start selling from October this year. | |
