| Because of the old myth "plasmas use more energy" (which isn't exactly true) British consumers are buying more LCD TVs, according to the online shopping cashback network eDealsUK.com. |

eDealsUK.com, which monitors over 600,000 shoppers' purchases, suggests that 13% more LCD TVs than plasma TVs were sold over this time last year, with the increase influenced by selfish rather than green reasons, according to the HDTV UK site.
"People are picking the greener type of television, although it is primarily to protect their own wallet not the environment," said Nadeem Azam, the marketing manager of the eDealsUK.com network.
Other reasons for this changing statistic could be the fact that there's a much wider choice and availability of LCD TVs than plasmas, they are the only choice in smaller screen sizes (smaller then 32 inch) because Plasma TVs are only available from 32 inch up to 103 inch & that retailers push LCD over plasma.
More energy efficient plasma TVs are in production & most of the times they use less power then LCD TVs, especially LCD TVs with CCFL backlighting are using more power then Plasma TVs.
