Flatscreen TVs are getting flatter by the day. The latest Panasonic 54 inch Viera TC-P54Z1 Plasma TV is just 1 inch deep. Panasonic accomplished this by bringing the TV tuner external to the chassis.

The TV tuner communicates wireless with the Plasma panel, using SiBEAM's WirelessHD technology. The TC-P54Z1 has a contrast ratio of 40,000:1, 1080p resolution & is a THX Certified Display.
The wireless transmission system was developed by Panasonic in collaboration with SiBEAM Inc. It can transmit uncompressed 1080p full HD content wireless with no deterioration in quality by using 60GHz millimeter wave radio. No pricing, or availability info is known yet. |
