| Worldwide Plasma Panel shipments reached 1.39 million units in May, rising 10% compared to April because of increases in Matsushita shipments, according to Displaybank. |

Although it's not measured officially, but this could be caused due to increased demand because of the European Soccer Championships & the upcoming Olympic Games.
In terms of shipments by size and resolution, the 40-49-inch segment accounted for 56.9% of the total shipments while the 50-59-inch segment took up 26.1%, according to Displaybank. Sales of the new 46-inch full HD panels also grew.
Samsung SDI's shipments are expected to increase steadily during the 3rd quarter, while LG Electronics' shipments will also increase due to the addition to its product lineup of a 37-inch Panel during the 2nd half of the year.
But a bright market can't be guaranteed for the latter half of the year, as the slowdown in the economy is weakening demand in the entire TV market, Displaybank said.
