| Samsung anounced that they have developed the world's 1st LCD panel using the DisplayPort interface (next-generation video interface) DisplayPort will serve as a replacement for DVI, LVDS & in the future VGA. |

The DisplayPort interface of the new 30-inch LCD panel from Samsung, will transmit graphics data at a data rate of 10.8Gbps. With this speed a resolution of 2,560×1,600 is possible without any color smear(1.07 billion colors) Compared to todays technology DisplayPort replaces 2 DVI ports.
Samsung developed its 30-inch panel using a new 4-lane, 2.7Gbps/lane interface chip together with Genesis Microchip & they will begin production of the 30-inch panel in the 2nd quarter of 2008.
Probably the 1st hardware which will output a DisplayPort signal will also be available in 2008, currently there's no hardware available yet with a DisplayPort interface.
