| Silicon Image announced that its InstaPort port switching technology will be featured in Samsung’s next generation TVs & is currently under evaluation at 9 of the top 10 TV manufacturers for next year’s models. |

Silicon Image’s InstaPort technology adds intelligence to HDMI technology-enabled digital television inputs, resulting in sub-second switching time between inputs delivering digital content from different sources connected to the TV.
“Samsung agrees that port switching time is an issue with today’s sophisticated consumers who have multiple HDMI technology-enabled devices connected to their TV at any given time,” said Lew Paceley, TV marketing director at Silicon Image, Inc in their recent press release.
Paceley continues, “As the number of HDMI inputs on TVs increase to four or more, there is an imminent need for fast, sub-second switching time between source devices. With its instant connection ability, InstaPort technology-enabled TVs will significantly enhance the consumer viewing experience of high-definition content from multiple sources such as digital video disc (DVD) players, digital video recorders (DVRs), Blu-ray Disc players, game consoles and set-top boxes (STBs).”
InstaPort technology is being incorporated into 3 new Silicon Image semiconductor products, the SiI9287 port processor & the SiI9251/SiI9261 input processors. The SiI9285 and SiI9287 devices also feature Silicon Image’s MHL™ technology, a low-pin count serial link technology that enables mobile devices such as cameras, mobile phones & portable media devices to connect & display standard & HD content to TVs.
