| Sharp will be unveiling a full range of new HD products at the IFA exhibition next week in Berlin. These include the company’s line up of large screen HDTVs & its new Blu-ray player. |

Mike Gabriel, head of marketing and communications for Sharp said, “By 2015, we predict that the average size of an LCD TV in a European home will be 60 inches. We are already seeing a trend towards bigger screen sizes in the trade and we expect this trend to continue into the mainstream market: people are expecting more size for their money. This is why Sharp is looking at a strategy involving LCD screen sizes of 42 inch & above.”
There are 3 new ranges of Aquos LCD HDTVs featuring large screen sizes:
The flagship HD1 Series is available in 46 inch & 50 inch models & comes equipped with an integrated 160GB hard drive, 100Hz technology, USB connectivity & a full HD 1920x1080 resolution – the 50in model was recently awarded ‘European Time Shift TV’ by EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association).
The XL2 Series features a slim, streamlined design that’s available in 42 inch, 50 inch & 56 inch models. All models feature Full HD resolutions, 100hz technology, truD HD processing and 4 wavelength background lighting (RGB plus). The X20 series appear to be entry-level models in 42 inch, 46 inch & 50 inch screen sizes.
Sharp will also be debuting it’s new Blu-ray player, the BD-HP20S. The player is 1080p compatible & compliant with all with all current DVD devices. Also on display will be the world’s largest full operational LCD TV, measuring 108 inch.
